Recommended GNU+Linux distro to run grsecurity?

Postby tuope » Fri Nov 06, 2009 4:31 pm

Hi!

Which GNU+Linux distro is recommended to run grsecurity-enabled kernel? Which distro do the developers use?

I take it that running grsecurity on Fedora, for instance, might be particularly difficult, as that distro is geared more towards Selinux.

Is debian a good choice? I have paid attention to the fact that they provide linux-patch-grsecurity2 (http://packages.debian.org/lenny/linux- ... rsecurity2)...

Thanks for your opinions! :-)

the best support is in (hardened) gentoo, as it's not only about the kernel itself but proper userland support as well (PT_PAX_FLAGS, binutils/glibc support, text relocations, etc). for all the others you'll have to ensure yourself that your userland is properly done, it can be quite some work.
