Spurious LAPIC timer interrupt on cpu 0

Postby specs » Sat Aug 01, 2009 5:28 pm

After upgrading to 2.6.30.4 I ran into a "spurious lapic timer interrupt on cpu 0".
Any idea how I can obtain more (usefull) information?

One small adition:
http://www.aoi-karin.net/grsec/bootup-vanilla

The trace after the warning ("WARNING: at arch/x86/mm/ioremap.c:205 __ioremap_caller+0x64/0x21f") is not grsec-related.
It is present during the bootup of 2.6.30.4-lka-200907302306-1

(The link is just provided for information only. I don't think it will help with debugging.)

With 2.6.30.4-grsec-20090802113 the Atom 330 boots.
There was a problem with X not starting, but that was probably due to a filled harddrive.

There is one error remaining which is new for me:

Particular for this CPU is that he should be low-power but he lacks cpufreq (see info from intel on atom 330).

Unfortunately, this is where my time runs out.
I'll test more later.

PS
This particular system had issues with X, so I'm not sure if I can expect X to work right out of the box (Intel 945GC Express with GMA950 IGP).
Need to test the old setup, then upgrade X, then test a new setup.

this is an interesting one. KERNEXEC caught a bad function ptr deref attempt (call edx) but to me it looks more like as if some module code had been placed into a data section. since this is seemingly ACPI related, i guess it's one of the ACPI modules. so could you please upload them somewhere?

I placed the acpi-modules at http://www.aoi-karin.net/grsec/acpi-2.6 ... -1.tar.bz2

If you need the whole shebang I'll upload all the modules at http://www.aoi-karin.net/grsec/modules- ... -1.tar.bz2

Just for fun I tried compiling and starting grsec with the latest patch.
It seems the problem moved to the network drivers, MII.

http://www.aoi-karin.net/grsec/config-2 ... 08021708-1
http://www.aoi-karin.net/grsec/modules- ... -1.tar.bz2
http://www.aoi-karin.net/grsec/vmlinux- ... 08021708-1

As always, I'm completely clueless.
The computer does start, I wonder when somethings goes wrong.

it's the same ACPI processor module failing for some reason. if you compiled it in, it'd probably work, can you test that?

The kernel with pax-test12 works.
    $ cat /proc/version
    Linux version 2.6.30.4-pax-200908040200-test12...
The booting is much faster than before (since the pc does not have to wait fo some timeout).

Bootlog as usual, but I hardly think you will find anything interesting.
http://www.aoi-karin.net/grsec/bootlog- ... 08040200-1

If you're interested in the bootlog I can mail it to you (unabreviated), but I don't think it will be necessary.
