Fedora and grsecurity

Postby the_rainbow » Mon Sep 29, 2008 12:56 pm

Hello everybody,

I've been trying to patch my Fedora kernel with grsec with no results, I'm using the 2.6.4.5-85 Fedora kernel version, and the 2.6.4.5 grsec patch, there were some hunk failures, I thought it was ok, but it prevented my kernel from being compiled at all, it complains about some source files which I think grsec has messed up.

when I try to patch a generic 2.6.4.5 kernel which I download from kernel.org, there's no problem, and the patch works fine, however the Fedora kernel makes grsec confused apparently. Any hints?

Ah by the way, I noticed there are no patches for the 2.6.25.x kernels on the grsec website, the test patches only support 2.6.26, but I'd like to see some 2.6.25.x patches to apply them to recent Fedora kernels.

Thank you in advance.

Cheers

Hi, I think you have to use a vanilla kernel and keep the fedora .config file. I had the same problem with ubuntu and it worked out just find. you can get your kernel @ http://www.kernel.org

I am running Debian.
I used a vanillia kernel instead of the distro released kernel.
No problem.
