linux-2.6.11.7-grsecurity-2.1.5 massive memory leak?

Postby razholio » Tue Apr 12, 2005 2:01 pm

Howdy folks. I've got a server running postgres 7.5, tomcat and apache that can't hold a load for more than an hour before running out of memory and/or locking up solid. When I did see the OOM killer active, I was able to stop things from running out of control and saw that postgres was hogging about half the RAM.

I've never seen this before with previous versions of grsecurity including 2.1.3 which we've been running for quite some time.

Additionally, I threw 2.6.11.7-grsecurity-2.1.5 onto a vmware VM and let it sit idle. It had run out of memory overnight, the OOM killer had run through it's thing and then it locked up.

let me know if I can provide any more useful information.

the latest version fixed it. I didn't realize there are different versions with the same patch number (ie 2.1.5) or I would have gone looking first.

thanks for such a great (and necessary) security product!
