What kernel to use?

Hi,

today I noticed there was linux-2.6.8.1 released. My current machine is 2.4.27 patched with grsec. While looking at the webpage, I've noticed that the latest grsec patch offered is 2.6.7 . I was wondering if that means the patch can ONLY be applied to this kernel, or would I be succesful in applying it on 2.6.8.1? Thanks for the help
