Perfomance problem

Hello to all
2 servers here
Server1 - P4 @1.5Ghz 1GB RAM kernel 2.4.25 patched with grsecurity-1.9.14-2.4.25. There is no problems with transfer rates - Up to 15MBytes/ec. Load average is normal 0,3-0,5.

Server2 - P3(Coppermine) @333Mhz 768MB RAM kernel 2.4.25 patched with grsecurity-1.9.14-2.4.25. Here i am experiencing abnormal high load averages and slow transfer rates(0.3-0.9MB/sec - with clean 2.4.25 kernel normally i can down|upload with 5-6MBytes/sec). CPU usage is 100% almost all the time and transfers are lagging at random periods.

Both servers are running samba 3.0.2a-1 on debian unstable

Any idea?

did you try running a vanilla 2.4.25 on this machine? Did the load averages drop to normal levels with vanilla?

how many processes do you have running on the system?

can you try the 2.0 patch and see if that's any different?
there's a specific algorithm change in 2.0 that i think may solve this issue

What is vanilla?

vanilla = a plain kernel downloaded from kernel.org; nothing else patched in to it.
