Activestate Pure Message crashes box with 2.4.21 Grsecurity

I have played with using the grsecurity patch for linux 2.4.21, but whenever I apply the new kernel, the system crashes immediately with a kernel panic (it looks like the system can't allocate some kind of swap) upon running the activestate software.

Anyone else use this? I am trying the "default" low, medium, and high to see if these make any difference.

I was using "custom" with a variety of different options, and all of them failed (I tried disabling pax, etc) to no avail.

do you get any messages about the crash? also, did you by any chance enable KERNEXEC and if so, can you try without it?
