Another dumb newbie question...or two

Hi all,

I just need to know what grsecurity 'is'. I mean, is it a firewall or something similar to say, harden-suse? What exactly is it, is what I'd like to know. How will it affect my use as root *and* user on my system (I'm just the everyday user, nothing dramatic like running a server or anything, just the everyday Joe)?
