scheduler problem with grsecurity-2.2.0-2.6.35.8 ?

Postby Hugo Mildenberger » Tue Nov 02, 2010 6:23 am

Using grsecurity-2.2.0-2.6.35.8-201010311944 on a PIV machine with 512 MB RAM, I encountered a strange scheduler behaviour while running emerge --update world on Gentoo, seemingly when a spawned subprocess (make) terminates. The parent processes do not continue and are even unresponsive to kill -9, also ssh remote shells are suddenly dead. I'did not test yet if a vanilla kernel shows the same behaviour, but I do observe also that openrc waits for sysfs / swap (tmpfs?) to return during shutdown. Swap space was used, but only to a tiny percentage. htop shows the tasks in state 'S', and there are no zombied tasks. If you need .config, just say so.
