Your kernel has little to do with gcc and glibc.
The kernelheaders used for compiling applications which glibc depends upon have been seperated from the kernel sources ages ago. They were seperated exactly for the reasons you mention.
I suggest you use the latest kernel (2.6.22.x) due to some bugfixes in the kernel.

When you compile gcc and glibc you can specify a kernel
ie
../configure \
--prefix=/usr \
--enable-kernel=2.6.21.5 \
--with-headers=/usr/src/linux-${KERNEL_HEADERS}/include \
also I use grsecurity in a whole different way then most people. I need the 2.6.21.5 patch if anyone has it.
If someone has it that i could download please post a link.
I currently run 2.6.22.4 grsecurity but i need 2.6.21.5 for my distro. I am working on getting it DOD certified and i want to play it safe.
Thanks

Perhaps someone can verify the md5sum.
