gradm / grsec incompatibility

Postby bunti » Sat Nov 19, 2005 8:05 pm

hello,

i'm using slackware current and kernel 2.6.14.2 with grsec and gradm from your website (grsecurity-2.1.7-2.6.14.2-200511150641 gradm-2.1.7-200511041858).
when i try to exec gradm -E it says:

root@router:/usr/src# gradm -E
You are using incompatible versions of gradm and grsecurity.
Please update both versions to the ones available on the website.
Make sure your gradm has been compiled for the kernel you are currently running.

can anyone help me? :/

Have you ever compiled gradm yourself? Isn't it possible, that you have a gradm binary of a previous version located somewhere else? Are you sure, that you've booted the correct kernel?

I've found myself booting the wrong kernel after upgrading kernel+gradm, because I've just corrected the menu item's description (containing the kernel version) and forgot about the line with the kernel image itself in grub's menu.lst.

Check your boot loader's config. Evaluate the version of the running kernel. Try to specify the full path for gradm.

Regards,
Dw.
