It seems that you can 'just' patch the kernel. If you have 2.4.23 kernel with grsecurity innit, copy it to new directory and patch it with patch-2.4.24.bz2 from http://www.kernel.org. You will need to edit Makefile and change the SUBVERSION manually to 24, but otherwise it works fine. Tested.

works fine the other way around as well, only the Makefile rejects of course.
